United Way of Central New Mexico – Center for Nonprofit Excellence
The Challenge
The Center for Nonprofit Excellence is a project of the United Way dedicated to strengthening the capacity of nonprofit organizations throughout the state of New Mexico. CNPE offers workshops, networking opportunities, a job center, and access to resources that can further build the skills of local organizations. CNPE wanted a more dynamic, engaging, and user-friendly website that would help strengthen the organization’s role as a key resource for nonprofits in the state, without creating an additional administrative burden for the organization’s team.
The Solution
Upleaf revamped the CNPE website using a new and strategic design to place fresh and engaging content front and center on the home page. Categories were created for news, training events and job postings, and the organization’s nonprofit database and searchable directory of grantmakers were highlighted for easy access. To avoid increasing the team’s workload due to the increase in community engagement, Upleaf set up a series of online forms so that nonprofits, donors or other community members could submit their own job listings, events, board openings, news and more to be posted on the site—requiring only click-of-a-button approval from CNPE staff before being published. As a result of the new content structure and the search engine optimization work the site’s traffic coming from search engines more that doubled only 4 months after the changes were implemented.
